My Final As You Like It (DT) Anything Goes

Let's face it, if you are going to be late, you might as well be late with style,
so here I am a few days behind schedule for my final DT outing with the

The theme for this time is Anything Goes
but a little word about why you make what you make would be helpful

I always try to make at least one LOL card each year for a quirky friend, and as soon as I saw this stamp I just knew that I had to have it.  It had me rolling on the floor (well, it would have done if I didn't have a bad back and wonky knees) - I mean, just look at the expression on the reindeer, priceless!

I just LOVE this Oddball Girl with her reindeer from Stamping Bella
Painted in Distress Inks (ReInkers)

As You Like It Challenge (DT) Modern or Traditional (Colours)

Well looky here, first Thursday of November and the Christmas adverts
have started on the telly already!

And speaking of Christmas, the AS YOU LIKE IT CHALLENGE
would like you to join in with the new challenge and the theme is
Modern or Traditional Colours (and why)

I tend to flip-flop between the two, one year modern, the next year traditional.  This year
traditional is back in favour, I love the richness and warmth of the reds, greens, and a sprinkle
of gold, it's just a lovely cosy feel.

You can't get much more traditional than holly for Christmas
Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) as watercolours
Odds and ends of papers from my scraps box
Martha Stewart holly border punch
Crafters Companion sentiment

The winner of this challenge will receive a digi prize from:

Do come on over and join the festive fun

So, here we are, just over halfway through September and into the
very beginning of autumn.  This time of year is always the time of harvest festivals
and that is why for this challenge at AS YOU LIKE IT
we're asking for your favourite Harvest Colours

I love the warmth of harvest colours, the golds, reds, and greens of ripe
fruit and vegetables, a season of plenty, a full table of tasty things,

Like this little chap with his golden beetroot, delicious!

Christmas In July

Having a mooch through my phone photos at the weekend, I discovered a
couple of cards that I haven't shared with you yet.

My extremely talented BFF's husband has a habit of commissioning cards from me for her
for special occasions, and this is the one from last Christmas.

So, I used this gorgeously cute chap (well, he was before I got hold of him) from
Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) as watercolours
The holly die cut border is one I bought online but now I can't remember the make or where I bought it

As You Like It (DT) Pastels or Brights

Helloooooo!  Time for another As You Like It Challenge

This fortnight's challenge theme is to showcase a project using
Your Favourite Pastels or Brights (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite

Someone not too far away from here seems to believe that I favour the
brights, so just to prove that I can do pastels occasionally...

So, I have used
Stamping Bella Squidgy with Daisy
Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers)
a Stamping Bella sentiment
and a mixture of Lawn Fawn and MFT papers
from my leftovers pile
Martha Stewart "grass" border punch

So now it's over to you.
We hope you will join in our challenge and show us your style.

Oddball Teacher

Are you keeping up with me?  I'm not sure that I'm keeping up with myself, must be a rush
of blood to the head this week.

So, another made but not posted card.  This one was for a dear colleague who left work for new pastures last month.  I do miss him a lot, a really dry sense of humour and a little bit whacky.  As I said to a junior once, when you get past the weird you will love him.

Yes, I know this is a "teacher" stamp, but the similarity to my colleague is scary

Happy (no, really) Birthday

My favourite cousin and I are only 10 weeks apart in age (he's the eldest), and we've done a lot together over time - right through school together, learning to drive at the same time (I passed first), you get the idea.  And even though we are now heading towards a certain age, we still like to remind each other of how old we're getting.

I don't know why, but this just made me laugh - I hope he saw the funny side too.

A very simple card but I used
Coloured with a mix of Distress Inks (ReInkers), Zig Clean Color Pens, and Polychromos Pencils
Honestly not sure what make the striped paper is

AS You Like It Challenge (DT) Sketch

Hello peeps, almost time for the Bank Holiday (UK) weekend, hurrah!

Now, before you all dash off to the beach or out to the barbeque, it's time for another challenge over at

Our theme for this one is Favourite Sketch (and please explain your choice)

We all get stuck for ideas from time to time, of course we do, and it is so easy to repeat something over and over because you feel comfortable with it, so when I get stuck or need something fresh I pop over to the MFT Blog for a mooch through their library of past sketches.  I have used 2 or 3 of them a few times but this one is winning at the moment as my favourite.  It's very simple, but can be very effective with the right choice of papers and little extra details.

For this I have used
Stamping Bella - Mini Oddball Has A Present
Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Zig Clean Colour Brush Pens
Papers are Lawn Fawn 6x6 Flower Market
MFT Die-Namics Stitched Rectangle
Mama Elephant Mini Everyday Messages

Oddball Cinderella

Hello peeps, hope you are ok.

Since I stepped down from DTDF I've had a little bit of a breather from crafting so intensively but am back in the saddle now.  Looking back over my camera reel I see that there are some things I haven't shared with you yet from the end of 2021, and this is one of them.

Oddball Hamlet started my collection, and Oddball Cinderella came next - I've gone from not liking them very much to actually liking them a lot.  The same cannot be said for Marmite.
I have no idea whose the brick wall stencil is (now packetless)
Ditto the papers I used.
Sentiment comes with Cinderella.

Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Oxides

Hope all is well in your world

Mini Snowflake Oddball (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello peeps, just popping in today, with my penultimate post for DTDF, before I pop over for a welfare check on the Oldies AND (drum roll please) get my first haircut since February 2020!

and a sprinkle of enamel dots

Oddball has been painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) with a little help from Polychromos pencils for her hair.  I went back to Bristol Board for this one instead of watercolour paper as I wanted a bright white background.

Dies To Die For DT - Oddball William

Wow, look at this, on Saturday, and early!

Now, please don't get me wrong, I normally adore anything that Stamping Bella produces, but....when the Oddball collection came out, I was very "meh" about it.  However, the longer it has been around, the more I am warming to it, and this one in particular caught my fancy.

Sentiment all my fault

The Walrus, The Polar Bear, And The Penguin (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello peeps, sorry I was MIA for my DTDF post last week, I was laid low by a rather unpleasant bug, which knocked me off my feet for four days.  Still not 100% but am getting there.

Anyhoo, today's offering reminds me of a joke

A penguin walks into a pub.  He goes to the bar and says to the landlord
"Have you seen my brother?"
The landlord looks at him, scratches his head, thinks for a minute, and asks
"I'm not sure, what does he look like?"

Sooooooooo, on to today's make then

And the lovely things used are

The image is painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and fussy cut - I don't know if there even was a die  issued for this stamp but, if there was, I don't have it, so back to the trusty scissors and the craft knife for the nooks and crannies.

I was a bit frugal with the papers as there are only 2 sheets of each design in the pad, and they are all so lovely, so I was a miser and only used one - I did the technique of cutting from the centre of the sheet so I had my mini matting layer and a hollowed out bottom layer - I "patched" the hole (slight overlap) with the white card.  I'm not sure which stitched dies I used for the white, but I think it might have been my Crealies set.

Hmmmm, I've not had a Penguin in ages, but I know where there is a stash of dark mint Kit-Kat

Curvy Girl Gardener (DT) Dies To Die For

Is it just me or is it chuffy cold at the moment?  I'm looking out at all that needs to be done in the garden and thinking "nah, I'll wait 'til it's warmer"

This little lass however seems to be having great results with her blooms

For this I have used

I've painted her with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and fussy cut (she may have lost a strand or two of hair in the process).
Flowers done with an old Woodware medium daisy punch, with Craftwork Cards foiled Card Candy for centres.  Sentiment is from Personal Impressions.

When I went to attach the Candy centres, I discovered that silicon glue is not nice after it hasn't been used for a very long time.  I appear to currently have a large tube of slimy snot - guess that is heading for the bin.  Thank goodness for emergency foam pads!

Knitting Dandies (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello chaps, Saturday is here again, hurrah!

Now, I am useless with knitting (I am much more proficient at crochet, although a beginner still), I get into all sorts of tangles, so this stamp really caught my eye and tickled my funny bone.

Sentiment comes with the Dandies stamp.

Curvy Girl Baker (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello peeps, a very slow Squirrel here, everything is on a go slow today, but maybe that is what Saturdays were made for.  I'd intended to have a bit of a lay-in this morning, but woke up early, then cat-napped until the alarm (with Rosie on my pillow, snoring) and then got up feeling grot.  Should have got up when I first woke!

Oh well, never mind eh.  So, snow and blizzards forecast for us in the east tomorrow and Monday.  I'm a little bit excited about it, I love to see fresh snow, but also dreading it.  Thankfully I am working from home until Wednesday so maybe the roads will have cleared by then!

Anyhoo, here is what you came over for:

I adore these Curvy Girl stamps from Stamping Bella, although they are still enviably tall, at least their legs are not like matchsticks!

Curvy Girl has been painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and I just used a little Hobbycraft heart punch to take the bareness off that section of the card.

As you can tell from the lack of ingredients, this is definitely a CAS card.

Knitting Penguin (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello everyone, hope you are ok this morning.  A huge furry hug going out to anyone who needs it.

Like many kids of my generation, I was desperate to learn to knit so that I could make a Tom Baker Dr Who scarf.  I was taught the basics by my mum, and did manage a scarf (sort of) which I wore a lot.  I'm not sure that I have knitted anything since!  Actually, that's a fib, I did knit a jumper, it had no shaping, it was just rectangles sewn together, and I did wear it once, just once.  I wonder what happened to that?!  Having failed to get to grips with two needles, I am now trying to learn to cope with one with a bit of crochet.  Not convinced that this adventure is any more successful!

Anyhoo, this little chap has certainly got the hang of things

Ingredients for this make

The sentiment comes with the stamp so, as always, good value from Stamping Bella.

As You Like It Challenge (DT) Favourite Non-Birthday Occasion

The calendar says it is Thursday, so unless I have turned over two days earlier in the week I am assuming it really is and that means it is a new challenge theme from the As You Like It team.

This time around the theme is
Your Favourite Non-Birthday Occasion
and tell us why!

Thinking this through, I suppose my favourite non-birthday occasion is actually a birthday really.
I love new baby cards, you can get away with unbearable amounts of cuteness and
nobody actually minds!

So, for this simple make I have used

I feel like I spent a lifetime on those petals, but the image has been coloured up with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens

Sentiment was done on my Brother label machine
