WELCOME!

Welcome to Squirrel's slightly nutty world of rubber stamping, papercraft, cats, Formula 1 and a variety of other off-the-wall topics. It's fabulous to see you and I hope you enjoy your time here. Please do pop back and visit me again soon!

Baker Nancy (DT) Dies To Die For

Anyone for a slice?  Just look at the size of that cake.
I imagine it to be filled with big, fat and juicy, English summer strawberries.
Yum!

Morning all, I am a wee bit on the drag this morning, even with this ridiculous heat (can you tell I'm not a huge fan of summer temperatures) I managed to oversleep.  Oh well, it will go a little way towards making up for the Mon-Fri early starts.  Anyhoo, I am here to share a very industrious young lady with you.  I bet she was slaving over a hot oven to get this one made in time.

And the items used for this make are:

Image is painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and I have used a variety of the cold grey Polychromos for her hair.  I do seem to have an addiction to these Rascals, and black hair does seem (to me anyway) to give them a slightly cheekier look!

What are your plans for the weekend?
Toad has popped out for some essentials (iced coffee and carrots), Rosie is (stupid animal) out in the conservatory snoring (don't worry, I am keeping a very close eye on her) and I'm doing domestic stuff like feeding the washing machine and roasting a gammon joint.  At least I have the Austrian GP to look forward to.  Ok then, I am off to rummage through the dvd collection to find something for this evening as telly is crap.  Anyone would think it was the World Cup.

Have a wonderful weekend all

Hugs

Howl Are You? (DT) Dies To Die For

Morning all, as it's a Saturday I am here again today for DTDF, just popping in with another does
of canine cuteness

For this one I have used:
(this is a die, but I used the die cut as a stencil to ink through, and I just sponged with Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Walnut Stain and Pumice Stone)

Both dogs painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and then fussy cut
and the grass border is a Martha Stewart punch

Hugs to all

Embossing (DT) As You Like It

Hello again!  Hope this finds you well.  Of course, as it is a Thursday, it has to be an AS YOU LIKE IT challenge so if you are sitting comfortably I will tell you about our theme for the next fortnight (yes, I know you've seen the post title) - and it is Heat or Dry Embossing

Confession time, it's a long while since I did either of these!  I like the look created by embossing folders, but for some bizarre reason I always have trouble with it.  I like heat embossing, in fact I used to do it all the time before I found a waterproof stamping ink, and I really like that slightly raised and shiny smooth line when the powder melts under the heat of the gun (as well as the smell of burning dust, told you it had been a long time) - and of course the embossed lines create a great border for when you are colouring with messy materials

So I coloured this one in pencil, go figure!

So, I have used
Stamped on a kraft card base with VersaMark and embossed with Stampendous Ultra Detail White powder, and the image coloured with Polychromos Pencils
Some wonky layering (jeez) and a Martha Stewart corner punch

Don't forget, whatever your preference for embossing, do come and share it with us

Hugs to all

Puppy Power (DT) Dies To Die For

Morning peeps, sorry I am a bit late with my posting today, I was so pooped last night that I had a lengthy granny nap on the sofa after dinner and didn't get round to doing this before bedtime.

Anyhoo, I am here today with some more animal cuteness for you!

I brought you kitties last week, so thought it was time to share some pups

I''m afraid that the flooring is all my own fault as I thought it would be a great idea to doodle the floorboards, it took rather longer than anticipated trying to get some perspective.

I could not resist the rolling over puppy, maybe it's because that's a default
position for Rosie, belly up and paws waving - that's how she is in 90% of the photos I have of her anyway.  I sometimes wonder if she is part dog or has never properly learned how to cat!

Whatever you are up to, have a super weekend everyone

Hugs

AYLI (DT) Shape or Fold

It's Thursday (almost the weekend, hurrah) and you all know what that means,
it's a new challenge from the AS YOU LIKE IT team

Our theme this time around is Your Favourite Shape or Fold
(please remember to tell us about your choice)

So, I did consider a shape for this challenge, but as my favourite shapes are square or
rectangle I thought I would push the boat out and go for a fold.  My favourite fold for a card
is a good old easel, it's easy to do but still has the impact factor, but I forgot
what a bugger it is to photograph!

So for this I have used
Dovecraft Basics: Perfectly Pink
Image painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers)

and our sponsor for this fortnight's challenge is

Hugs to all

Gnome Pile (DT) Dies To Die For

Morning all, running a little late because of v.e.t appointment but Squirrel is now in the house

Every now and then, amongst all the impossible ideas, the husband comes up with a little cracker and on this one he was so right, so I had to go with it.

"They look like little Santas" he says

The Gnomes/Santas are painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and there is a little bit of Polychromos
Pencil in the beards - I really need to practice beards, it has taken me ages to master normal hair but beards are a whole other world of hairyness.

That's a Martha Stewart snowflake in the corner, but simply because I had the punch to hand.

Speaking of hairyness, this morning's v.e.t visit (booster vaccines and worming) went relatively well.  Managed to get Her Ladyship into the carrier with no biting or scratching,  but of course we had the traditional yowling all the way to the surgery.  We had a bit of a wait, but not too bad, and she had settled nicely while I was chatting to Ninja's mum (grey tabby, Ninja, not his mum) and she mentioned that she was bracing herself to be told he was fat.  I kept quite quiet!

Anyhoo, our turn came and I plonked the box on the table.  Would she come out, would she heck as like.  "That's a lovely collection of whiskers" coos the lady vet, as that was all that was making an appearance.  In the end we had to resort to the undignified process of tipping the box and sliding her onto the table.  Once there, she was very well behaved and took the vaccine and worming like a trooper.  I thought the scales would be a challenge but she treated them a bit like a royal throne and sat down quite happily.  The brilliant news is that we have a small weight LOSS at last!

OK, so it was only 200gm, and there is an awful lot more she can shift, but it is her first recorded loss and I was so chuffed.  It took a while to wean her off the Dreamies but it seems to be paying off.

As the treatments were done I picked up the carrier to bring it to the table and had only just got level with the edge of it, not even on it, and she was back in that box like a rocket!  We're home now (obviously) and have had a small snack and are now napping in my armchair.  Bless.

Right then, that's me done, I need to get a chicken in the oven to roast.

Have a wonderful weekend peeps

Love
