Less Is More - Lucky Dip

Afternoon all, hope you are having a good weekend so far - it is a little bit chillier here in the east today with a bit of a bite to the wind.  We have been spoiled this week so normal temperatures have come as a shock!  Still, it is still a beautiful Spring day, and a good reminder what time of year it really is.

This week, LESS IS MORE have a Lucky Dip challenge and have provided a Photo Inspiration.  I admit to a huge beaming smile when I saw this earlier.

Credit where credit is due, and I must thank the wonderful Debby for directing me to this stamp a couple of weeks ago, so a big thank you hunny, I love it.

There are many flowers that I love, but my particular favourite is the humble daisy, it just fills my heart with joy as they are such happy flowers and always a sign of sunshine and warm days.  I know many lawn lovers hate them but I like nothing better than to see a green lawn full of these little loves.

The stamp is a single daisy head from Hobby Art, which I masked and multiple stamped.  A touch of colour with ProMarkers and matted on a piece of soft green paper from Prima.  A Hero Arts sentiment and a few pearls to finish off.

Right, I'm off to finish an exciting project (for me) that I can't tell you anything more about until Easter Monday!

Winter Wonderland DT - It Takes Two

Well lookie here, a week before Easter and we are celebrating Christmas!  Yes, it's Friday and that means it is time for another WINTER WONDERLAND challenge.

Thanks to everyone who joined in with last week's Photo Inspiration challenge.  The winner and top 3 will be posted on the Winter Wonderland blog on Sunday as usual.

So, on to this week - our theme it IT TAKES TWO - so we would like to see your cards created using an image that feature two things - two snowmen, two robins, two trees, two Santas - you get the idea.  And our Sponsor for this week is the ever amazing SIMON SAYS STAMP

The DT have been busy again and provided lots of inspiration for you to ooh and ahh over.  Here is my card:

As is usual for me, I have kept the layout nice and simple.  I can't tell you what make the papers are as I won them in a candy but they are gorgeous colours.  The stamp is from a House Mouse set "Mice and Cosy" that I bought from Joanna Sheen, I just could not resist it.  The sentiment is from the same set.  A gold border and a couple of gems to finish off.

Looking forward to seeing you over at the challenge with your wonderful creations.

Ooh, you little tease!

Hi all, sorry but was a bit late home tonight, which ate into my Thursday playtime, which means I didn't get my card finished ....... so here is a tiny sneak peek of what's to come

Will be back in the morning with my Winter Wonderland DT for you and, hopefully, back on Saturday with the completed version of this sneak peek.

Anything Goes at Sweet Stampin'

Oooh, has anyone else been daft enough to click on the Upgrade Now button?  How can something look so different and scary!  I know I'll get used to it but I'm not a great one for change for the sake of it.  I confess to being a great believer in If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Anyway, you didn't come over here to hear me ranting on about progress and technology did you (no, really, you didn't) so here is my card for this week's SWEET STAMPIN' CHALLENGE

Ingredients for this card are:
Stamped Image: Wild Rose Studio - Feeding The Birds
Medium:  Distress Inks
Papers:  Prima - Meadowlark, and DCWV cardstock
Border Punch: Martha Stewart
Corner Dies: Cheery Lynn

Less Is More - Combine Three

Evening all, well there's not very much I can tell you about my entry for this week's LESS IS MORE challenge where the ladies are asking us to combine three previous challenges.

The three I chose to use are:  No. 3 Spring, No. 9 A Touch of Red and No. 23 Something With Legs.

What can I say?  I used LOTV's Blossom, painted her in Distress Inks, used a Hero Arts sentiment, and matted on a layer of ProMarker edged card.  And that's it.  Got to be one of my shorter descriptions!

Penny Black Bunny (and a Winner)

Happy Sunday folks.  We managed to maintain radio silence this morning until on the way home from Church when we heard the news that today's Grand Prix had been suspended because of torrential rain - so thankfully we still don't know who won and can sit down in a little while to see the BBC highlights show.  Fingers and toes crossed for Jenson!

Two Penny Black challenges today ......

I know it's not the done thing to sing your own praises, but I am so thrilled with how this card turned out.

Ingredients:
Stamped Image  Penny Black Pansy Bunny
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Dovecraft Back to Basics III
Sentiment  Personal Impressons
Extras Cheery Lynn corner dies, Marianne Creatibles leaf dies, EK Success flower
punches, and Card Candi

Now I must announce the winner of my Lucky Dip Comments Candy - and the first name out of the hat is

Sugar Plum Fairy

Grummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmblegrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  That's not me.  That's the noise our computer is making this morning.  It's on a go-slow, actually it's on a go-very-slow, which is always worrying!

So, how are we today then?  Is the sun shining for you?  It's a beautiful spring day here, and I've just seen the most enormous buzzy bug outside.  Not sure if it was a European Wasp, a Hornet, or some sort of Bee, but I do know that I ran away from it very fast.

Anyhoo, I have my card for this week's LILI'S LITTLE FAIRIES CHALLENGE which is a Sketch from Jacque.

Ingredients are:
Stamped Image  LOTV Dainty Dancing
Medium  Distress Inks
Papers  Basic Grey, and DCWV cardstock
Extras  Nesties and Cuttlebug dies, lots of gems

I turned the sketch over because of the way my image is facing but at least you can still identify it as the right layout!

Off for a haircut this morning.  How does hair go from looking perfect one morning to totally uncontrollable fluffiness the next day?  Is there a particular day that hair grows faster?

Indian Kitten

Being a country girl, I have seen my fair share of wild rats over the years, but I had quite a surprise tonight coming home from work when, as a passenger in my friend's car, I spotted two of them, running around bold as brass in broad daylight!  Both were quite large, fluffy and looked to be in good health.  I hope this is not a sign of the times and plague is about to break out ...........

Anyhoo, what I popped on to show you was this little card I made

Ingredients:
Stamped Image  Nellie Snellen - Indian Kitten
Medium  Distress Inks
Papers  Basic Grey - Pyrus
Sentiment  Lili of the Valley

I know it is only a very simple little card, but I love the combination of colours, and it really did make me smile while I was making it.

This, That, And The Other

Hello everyone!  Phew, that's Monday over with then (grin), another day nearer to the weekend, lol.

I have a simple but sweet little card for you tonight for my entry to this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge of This That And The Other (Anything Goes).

Ingredients for this card are
Stamped Image  Penny Black - Sweet Talk
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  A very old pad of K&Co
Extras  Wild Rose Studio sentiment

And I must say thank you to four lovely bloggers who have nominated me for

So many thanks go to SARAH, to JOEY, to MARIE and to JILL

The rules are that you have to nominate 15 other blogs but I never was one for rules so I am going to nominate EVERYONE that I follow because I take inspiration from each and every one of you and my blog would not be what it is without you all.

And I have to tell you seven things about me:
1.  I love the smell of my cats paws (and he lets me sniff them)
2.  I knew within three hours of meeting Toad that I would marry him
3.  I can't swim very well
4.  My favourite snack is Ready Salted crisps
5.  I used to write poetry
6.  I am still friends with my first real boyfriend - he is now married with two children
7.  Toad biting his nails drives me up the wall

Thank you to everyone who has enquired about my welfare after my stupid fall - I'm ok guys, honestly, just left my back somewhat sorer than usual.

Birthday Fairy

Afternoon all.  Well, I'm still a bit sore and battered!  That will teach me to dash upstairs with an armful of washing and not look where my feet are going.  Not to be recommended.  But I have been totally cheered up by the first race of the 2012 Formula 1 season!!  I won't tell you the result in case you have not seen the race yet - but it's a good one!

Unusually for me, I have found a few challenges for today's card - normally it is just one or two, but I guess I struck a lucky week, so this is my entry for

Ingredients for this card are:
Stamped Image  Lili of the Valley - Little Dot Birthday Wish
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Wild Rose Studio
Sentiment  Lili Of The Valley (came with stamp)
Extras  EK Success Butterfly punch, pearls from stash

Knock On!

A very quick one as we're meant to be on the way to the Oldies and I still need to get the roast in on timer.  For today's earlier post please click here

This week LESS IS MORE are challenging us to use Masking - something I only ever seem to do for my LIM cards, but it is a fun technique and I should really use it more often.

In honour of the Six Nations Rugby and an interesting match later today - England v Ireland - here is my card.

I've used the Papermania Nostalgia Pastimes set and stamped the rugby guy in Memento in Tuxedo Black, Paris Dusk and Rich Cocoa,  Sentiment is from the same set.  A bit lazy as I only used one mask but I think I twanged something when I fell earlier and didn't have the energy to sit and do more just now.

Hopefully I'll feel less sore tomorrow and will come back with something more interesting.

What A Silly Cow

You may recall that I mentioned I had made mum two Mother's Day cards, one soppy and one silly.  Well, here is the silly one at last.  Mum has a thing about black and white cows so I just knew this Molly Blooms stamp would work.

The sentiment is computer generated - it was a case of holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed as our printer doesn't really like heavy weight paper and this is on Bristol Board!  Cow painted in Distress Inks and the matting layer is a piece of First Editions.

Not much chat from me today - had a little accident this morning and am still a bit shaken up.  It was my own fault though - I fell up the stairs.  Don't even ask.

Winter Wonderland DT - Magical (Fairy or Angel)

Hellooooo my lovelies!  Not only is it Friday, it is also WINTER WONDERLAND day and we have a brand new challenge for you.   But before I get down to details, I must say a big thank you for all the wonderful entries for last week's challenge - choosing the Top 3 is going to a tough one for the team!

So, the theme this week is Magical - we would like you to create a Christmas card featuring an angel or a fairy.

And our sponsor this time is The Emerald Faerie Garden.

As always, the Design Team have pulled out the stops to bring you some wonderful inspiration.  Here is my card for this week.

Ingredients: Whiff Of Joy stamp, Distress Inks, Personal Impressions sentiment, papers from leftovers box, and Glamour Dust

I really hope you can join us for such a magical challenge this week!

A Couple of Quickies!

Hi all, hope this Thursday evening finds you well or, if you are feeling low and poorly, feeling better very soon.

Only a quick post tonight as once Toad is out of that bathroom it will be suppertime and I am starrrrrrrrrvin' hungry.  So if you are sitting comfortably, then I shall begin .....

I was so excited to find my batch of new stamps from Bunny Zoe's Crafts on the doorstep when I got home from work that I could not resist playing with this little chap

Nellie Snellen - Indian Warrior
Hero Arts Sentiment
Chestnut ProMarker edged matting layer, Tea Dye distressed edges

And at lunchtime I picked up the new edition of Card Making & Papercraft because I knew there was a collection of Adam Pescott stamps free with the magazine

There are six animal stamps (cats and dogs) and some accessory stamps too.  And again, just couldn't wait to whip one out of the packet.  The cupcake and sentiment are from the set but the fancy corner is a LOTV.

Thanks ever so much for coming over to see me, it means so much, really it does.  I am slowly catching up with commenting (you guys don't half turn out a LOT of cards!) so if I've not visited recently then I am on my way.  That makes me sound like Santa .......

If you can't do it straight, do it round

After my disastrous attempts at this week's LESS IS MORE "Script" challenge and the nothing-straight issue, I found a way to get round it, so to speak ...........

The March hares were a free stamp with Craft Stamper magazine, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa, and the script is a Hero Arts stamp done in Memento Potters Clay.  Many Post-It Notes were harmed during this production.

Bunny Talk!

Afternoon all - isn't it the most glorious spring day?  Wonderful sunshine, perfect temperatures - oh if only it was like this for the whole of the summer, I would be the happiest squirrel alive.  With all this fur, when the temperatures start to rise it gets quite uncomfortable and my tail droops, but today is my idea of heaven on a plate.

Now, we've not had the coldest of winters this time around, apart from a couple of nights of minus something silly, so can you explain to me why our car battery keeps going flat?  To be fair to the car, it is coming up for fifteen years old and until recently we have not had a mite of trouble with it, but this flat battery lark is sending me up the wall.  You simply never know when it is going to happen - fine one day, flat the next.  And the garage fitted a new one when we had the MOT in November.  Rather than jump start it again, Toad took the battery off this time and it has been on charge for twenty four hours - in the kitchen, naturally (sorry, isn't that thing attached to the house called a garage?) so I am keeping my paws crossed that it will last for a few days.  I've got my already rearranged repeat blood tests on Tuesday and I'm going to be a tad annoyed if the bugger won't start!

Anyhoo, enough of my ranting and rambling - I have a card for you!

Ingredients for this card are
Stamped Image  Penny Black "Bunny Talk"
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Crafts Too - Spots and Stripes, DCWV yellow cardstock
Extras  Memory Box flourish die, Nesties, hole punch

I'm feeling a little sad that some of my Followers have decided to leave me - it's taken a long time to build up to the numbers I had reached so to see that going down again is a bit glum, especially as I'm coming up to my third blogoversary in a couple of weeks time.  I know we all have so many reasons for un-following (had to do it myself with some when I reached capacity) but it is like losing a friend.  Sorry to see you go, but you are always welcome back at any time, and thank you for following as long as you have.  TTFN.

Right then, I need to get some roast potatoes in the oven so that we can sit down to dinner before the England v France rugby match kicks off at 3.00 so you will have to excuse me, must dash!

Hugs all

Bring Me Sunshine

T'is me again folks, back with a card for this week's CUTE CARD THURSDAY challenge, which is a Sketch and for today's SWEET STAMPING CHALLENGE which is Lots Of Layers.

I put my paws up to having had a bit of a crafty spend this week and amongst the goodies were three pads of Prima papers.  Gosh, they are gorgeous.  The first one, Meadowlark, I used on my Lili's Little Fairies Card yesterday.  Had a fun time with another one today.

Ingredients for this card are
Stamped Image  Sugar Nellie - Posy Pip
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Prima - Sun Kiss
Gently edged each piece with Tea Dye Distress Ink
Sentiment  Hero Arts

I do love it when a plan comes together - this one worked well!

Waaaay Overdue For An Eye-Test

Morning all, how are we on this bright and sunny Saturday morning?  We had a little visitor in the garden this morning.  A small black and white cat wearing a red collar.  I very quietly crept out the back door and stood there, in my fluffy dressing gown and tatty slippers, calling gently but it seemed to have vanished.  And then I saw a little nose peeking out from behind a flower pot.  Bless.  Talk about timid.  Mum always reckons that I am Dr Doolittle when it comes to cats but this little chap wasn't having any of it.  Never mind, I'll wear him down eventually!

Anyhoo, I need my eyes tested.  I made two cards for today's LESS IS MORE OLC Script challenge, and they are both on the squint.  I'm terribly short sighted at the best of times, take my specs off and I fall over, but for reading and crafting I can see much better without them ..... or so I thought.  Oh well, back to the drawing board, but you might as well have a chuckle at these two in the meantime!

Penny Black eye chart stamp (how appropriate) and a Woodware alphabet print stamp

Hero Arts "Happy" definition stamp and a Hero Arts Happy Birthday from a clear set

Vince has just jumped in front of the screen, so now, not only are things on the huh, they are black and white and fuzzy!

Right then, off to play with something that doesn't matter too much if it's not straight.

Friday 9 March 2012

It's Friiiiiidaaaaaaaaaay!

Whoo-hoo, it's Friday, so that means my weekend starts in eight and a half hours.  Not that I'm counting or anything, lol.  I can cope with anything knowing that tomorrow is my time.

Anyhoo, I had a fun playtime last night and made my entry for this week's LILI'S LITTLE FAIRIES CHALLENGE which is Ribbon & Lace.

Ingredients for this card are
Stamped Image  LOTV Baby with Teddy
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Prima - Meadowlark
Sentiment  LOTV Circular Sentiments
Ribbon  Cream Picot Edged from Fantastic Ribbons
Border  Martha Stewart punch
Extras  Sissix Architectural Accents corner, EK Success retro flower, Card Candi

It's not often you will find me putting ribbon on a card (it never behaves itself) but the lace border was just crying out to have ribbon weaved through it.

Are You Bored Yet?

Evening all.  Well, what a contrast to yesterday!  We've had glorious sunshine, albeit a tiny bit chilly, all day.  It was the perfect day for sitting in the conservatory to paint.  I'm making a new rule - only go to work when it's raining.  Do you think I'll get away with it?  No?  Oh well, a girl can only dream.

Are you bored with my CAS cards yet?  I hope not as I have another two for you tonight.

The first is for my brother-in-law's birthday

This Fizzy Moon was a magazine freebie and as he is quite small compared to the normal stamps he was the perfect size for a CAS card.  Sentiments came with him too.

And for nephew's birthday two days after

Love this little Meljen mouse.  I've paper pieced the balloon, and I managed to screw up the sentiment stamping so had to overstamp it.  Hope it doesn't look too awful.  I'm sure Michael won't notice anyway, lol.  Mind you, if it had been a £5 note he'd have spotted it straightaway.  Boys!

Well as it is Thursday it means it is my night for a couple of hours crafting while Toad does the Wii Fit so I'm off downstairs for a little play.

Hugs Sxx

Wednesday 7 March 2012

Mwah! Kisses!

Afternoon all, how are we mid week then?  Been a day of sunshine and showers, but more showers than actual sunshine - got caught in a belter of a downpour at lunchtime.  Still, it will save on having to shower later. It's ok,  I'm kidding!

Anyhoo, here I am with my entry for this week's SIMON SAYS STAMP challenge and I have a feeling it is going to be a busy one this time with a theme of Mother's Day/Special Girl.

I have made two Mother's Day cards for my beloved mum, a soppy and a silly, so I thought I might as well share them both with you but I can't as I've not taken a picture of the silly one yet.  D'oh!

Here's the soppy

I've just realised that I've developed a bit of a "thing" for Mo Manning images lately but this one, "Kisses", from Penny Black is so big that it's not left room for anything else on the card!  So I went for a pretty First Editions paper and a LOTV sentiment that says it all, keeping the card simple and letting the image do the talking.  Image is painted in Distress Inks naturally

Hippity-Hop - and not a rabbit in sight

Evening all, how are we?  It has been a tad damp here since mid afternoon yesterday - I know the east of England is officially in drought but I didn't expect the Good Lord to try and correct that in twenty four hours!  We even had snow last night, although thankfully it was far too wet for it to get anywhere near sticking.  Today has been torrential rain from start to finish and I have a frizzy tail now.

Anyhoo, at our church I have been adopted by two lovely elderly ladies, Doreen and Joan, and it has become something of a joke that the three of us share the front pew, like the Three Wise Monkeys as our Priest put it one day.   Now, I had my leg operated on a while ago, Joan has recently had a hip replacement and now Doreen is due to have her hip done next week.  And because Doreen is such a poppet, I wanted to make her a get well/best wishes card.

I couldn't find an image of a hip replacement so I've gone for Whiff Of Joy's Wee With A Broken Leg - the sentiments came with the stamp.  Coloured in Distress Inks and simply matted with gems to finish.

It's A Wrap!

Ooooooooooooooooooh, the wonderful thing about squirrels, is squirrels are wonderful things, their tops are made out of rubber and their bottoms are made out of springs ................ can you tell I'm feeling better today?  Not quite tiggertastic but getting there.  Still very snotty but hey, can't have everything!

I spotted this challenge over at READY TEDDY GO yesterday and was intrigued.  The theme is "It's A Wrap" with the idea of taking inspiration from packaging.  So this morning found me, tail upwards, with my whiskers in the grocery cupboard having a furtle about.  Well, I came out of there with so many ideas, and a few strange looks from Toad.  But it wasn't until I put the kettle on that I was whacked in the head with colour ......

Ingredients for my card are:
Stamped Image  Wild Rose Studio - Millie Baking
Sentiment  Ditto
Medium  Tim Holtz Distress Inks (ReInkers)
Papers  Dovecraft Back to Basics, Basic Grey Kraft
Extras  Epiphany Round 14 (but I fiddled and made them buttons)

Now then, you may have noticed the note at the top of my sidebar about a random comments candy between now and 23 March.  Well, in addition to that, I'm not so very far off the 100,000 hits now so ...... if you are the one to leave a comment on the magic number, there will be a little something for that person.  You will need to keep an eye on the hit counter to see if it is you - and if it is, email me and let me know!

Hugs, Sxx

Less Is More - Neutrals

Has anyone noticed a huge discrepancy between their Stats and their Hit Counter lately?  According to my Stats page today, I had 938 Page Views yesterday ....... yeah, right, in my dreams Mr Blogger!  Not quite sure what is going on there but I think I would rather be trusting my Hit Counter, lol.

Anyhoo, I'm having a bit of a flat Saturday.  Although feeling much better than the other end of the week, this end of it finds me feeling pooped and uninspired.  Which goes some way towards my excuse for this half hearted entry into this week's LESS IS MORE colour theme challenge of Neutrals.

I'll put my hands up to it, I rootled through my sets of clear stamps, grabbed a couple from Hero Arts and thought Yeah, they'll do.  The spring leaf panel stamped in Memento Desert Sand, with the little bird added to the top corner, the graphic tulip, butterfly and sentiment stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa.

I think for the sake of my dignity I really ought to make an effort to do something "more".  I'll be back.  Possibly.

Sugar 'n' Spice

Evening all.  Well, I crawled back to work yesterday and never have I been so pleased to see the weekend!  I thought I was quite a tough little Squirrel but that germ is taking some beating!

Anyhoo, just a quickie post for you tonight and my entry for this week's HOUSE MOUSE AND FRIENDS challenge which is Sugar 'n' Spice.  As you will see from the ingredients list, I was in a bit of a vague mood when I made this one last night.

Ingredients for this card are:
Stamped Image  House Mouse (forgot to check the name)
Medium  Errm, that'll be Distress Inks I think
Papers  Cosmo Cricket (I'm reasonably sure) Early Bird pad (maybe)
Sentiment  Wild Rose Studio
Extras  Gold borders from stash

Right, you can see I've got brain-fade so I guess I need to toddle off for some sustenance and a crash in front of the tv.

Winter Wonderland - Photo Inspiration DT

Welcome to another challenge at WINTER WONDERLAND!  Thank you for all your entries for last week, don't forget that the winner and top three will be announced on the blog on Sunday.

This week we have a fab photo for inspiration .....

You could go for elements of the photo, colours, layout - whatever grabs your fancy, but please make it clear in your post what you have chosen to do.

And being the first challenge of the month our Sponsor is

Here is my DT card - as you can see, I chose the most obvious element to work with

This was so simple I am almost embarrassed by it!  I stamped two sets of Wellie Boots from a Woodware fishing themed clear set onto scraps of paper, cut them out and then layered over a piece of Forever Friends paper that contained this wonderful winter scene.  I added pale blue snow over the moon and a simple Personal Impressions sentiment.  And that's it.

Hope you can find the time to join us, don't forget it must be a Christmas card inspired by the photo.
