You Can't Sharpen A Paintbrush

Morning all, hope you are safe and well, particularly all of you in the west and south-west who got another storm battering last night.  I rather think we may have dodged a bullet here as it is much calmer than expected ..... but never speak too soon as I believe there might be more on the way before the weekend is over.

Now then, circumstances have dictated that I needed to get the pencils out rather than use the inks, and I haven't used pencils for an absolute age, so I pulled on the sweat pants and the headband, filled my water bottle and laced the trainers while I had a warm up with them.   Hmmmm.  Maybe I should exercise more often with them, scary how quickly you can forget.

Anyhoo, this is my first little practice piece

This is Bella Sitting On A Pile Of Presents from Wild Rose Studio
Coloured with Polychromos pencils
Sentiment is Paper Smooches

Then because I had enjoyed Bella so much I did it all over again in Distress Inks

It's difficult to compare the two as I pencilled straight onto the card base, but I inked onto Bristol Board

Pencils

Inks

Now you have seen more elephants than is natural for a Saturday morning, I'll potter off and do something constructive.  I had a Eureka moment yesterday which I am itching to try out.

Laters!

Love your colouring with both, great image too.

Weather is definitely "pants", our plastic greenhouse was just blown over, with quite a few pots smashed! look forward to higher winds later! NOT

Weather has been horrible here too Squirrel. Endless wind with rain thrown in too just to make it even better. Still compared to people in other parts of the uk we can't complain. Can be difficult to walk the dogs though when one tries to refuse to go and the other one won't go without him.

Loving your elephant cards. You're so good at colouring whatever medium you use.

I just realised when I started to look at your previous posts that I haven't visited for a few days! But it was lovely to catch up with the gorgeous cards I've missed.

Just what is the limits of elephants one should see on a Saturday morning? And does it make a difference if they pink and/or flying? Your coloring is fabulous no matter the medium. I do rather wonder if the inks hold up better over time. I've found some old pencil colored cards (Prismacolor) and it seems they have faded. Or maybe it is just that I'm so used to vivid markers now. Ah... carry on!

I love them both Squirrel, the colours may be a tad more vibrant on the inked one but the pencil colours are a tad softer :o)
You have reminded me that I have neglected my pencils for too long!

Lol, I love the image of you warming up for the pencils! Both these cards are cute and the image is coloured beautifully on both. The comparison is fab. I think the sweatband helped, as I prefer the pencil version, the colours are softer. I so wish I could pull of pretty, soft pastel shades x
