Lesson Learned? Was It Heck!

When I was 6, my mum had an old treadle Singer sewing machine.  Wanting to be like mum, I asked if I could have a go.  Within 30 seconds I had stitched my index finger to the footplate.

So why did I not remember that painful lesson this afternoon when I hoiked out of a very dusty box my Easy Stitch portable sewing machine?  I didn't actually sew my finger to anything today (but only because I had removed thread and bobbin).  However, I did manage quite a painful poke with a fast moving needle!

I shall be submitting my accident claim form to PENNY BLACK SATURDAY CHALLENGE Stitch It Up and BASIC GREY CHALLENGES Stitching!

So I resorted to faux stitching, lol - it'll hold about as much securely as my hand sewing anyway!  Penny Black duck stamp, coloured with ProMarkers, Basic Grey papers from Sweet Threads and Basics Manilla, with Hero Arts sentiment and washing label.

Dinner is just about ready so I'll be back tomorrow.

Hugs Sxx

I love your headings Squirrel - I have to come and look. Ouch. Never could stand machine sewing so I think your faux is better. Your duck's expression looks as though he has SAT on something sharp.
Lovely card though.

Lol...I once spent a whole afternoon at Primary school making a cross stitch panel for a Mother's Day gift...when I stood up to show my teacher the completed piece...I discovered that I'd sewn the whole thing to the front of my skirt! My Mum thought it was so lovely...she kept it like that...and bought me a new school skirt :0) I stick to faux stitching too now! lol
Gorgeous card Squirrel...lovely colours!
Thanks for joining us at the PBSC!

Yeah stick to the faux stitching like me. I nearly ruined my last card when the needle got stuck and all the cotton jumbled up on the back. Your card looks fab bud. Debs xx

Oh no!!
My mum once had to take a friend to hospital who had her singer sewing machine needle through her finger, I remember she took her in the car and the woman in question had the machine under her arm!!!
Gorgeous card, I have the two ducks together not seen this one before. Debbiexx

Fabulous card, love the layout and the cute PB duck, that sentiment label is fantastic and your (faux) stitching is brilliant!!

So glad you joined us at Basic Grey,

LOL Sweet Threads - very appropriate! My machine (another ancient Singer but a hand cranked one) doesn't do zig-zag and I haven't got the patience for hand-stitching, so it's faux for me too. Pretty. And safer. Squirrels were never intended to sew...

ooh poor chick ... I know what you mean ... sewing a button on by hand(to repair clothes I mean ..lol!!) is about as challenging sewing as I can manage and then only when I've nowt left to wear!! Hope your paw is bearing up ... in the meantime this is an adorable card. Superb faux stitching and papers ... and I really love how you have dotted pastel colours around your image .. never seen that effect before and i'm loving it. Thanks very much for joining in this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge
