I tried, I failed

Morning all.  I am feeling ridiculously low and fragile today.  My already appalling confidence levels have been severely hammered and even the offer of a pint of shandy from Jayne or a pink cocktail (with cherry and paper umbrella) with Annette isn't going to get me out of this one in a hurry.

You might remember that I told you my boss at work had bullied me into entering the Card Maker of The Year Competition that was in Quick Cards magazine.  Yeah, and against my better judgement I did it and really wished I hadn't.  Sigh.

The three obviously dire cards that I sent in I suspect haven't even made it to being donated to charity but are now languishing in the bottom of a very deep shredder bin somewhere (told you I was feeling fragile, and I'm not kidding!).

Here is one of them:

(see, I even tried a bl***y bow with ribbon!)

So there you go, the one of the three reasons for failure.

But you see, I'm a silly bugger and even in this darkness there is still a gleam of stupidity because I shall enter this card into the current Tiddly Inks Challenge (Make It Sparkle).- her dress is trimmed with Glamour Dust.

There is always hope, even it is a forlorn one.

Hugs
Squirrel xx

If I could reach you I would give you a hug or a smack, not sure which. Don't be so very silly, your cards are lovely and we all love you. Look at how many of us entered the penguin challenge, not because of the prize, we didn't know what it was, but because it was your challenge and I loved the build up with the number of penguins multiplying. This is such a sweet card, lovely colours, I am sure somebody will be buying this and loving it. Brush up that bushy tail and stand tall, you are a talented lady x

Don't feel fragile. Your cards are lovely. Better to try and fail than never try at all. We can't all win. I join challenges, not to win a prize but for ideas to make my cards which I send out to people to try and brighten up their days.
Hope you feel better soon. Keep trying.

well, the people at the quick cards magazine just don't have any taste! ;) I love this card. And not only this one. I love all of your cards! So, there you have it! Time to crawl out of that hole again! It's about having fun making cards. It's about winding down on your crafting desk. It's about bringing a smile on peoples' faces when they hold one of your cards in their hands. It's about being creative. It's about letting the colours and papers take you into a different world. It's NOT about some people judging your card.... Hugs to you!!!

This is absolutely stunning and the colourwork is fabulous. Do you know what love? It's Quick Cards loss. Your work is always beautiful and your blog is source of joy and inspiration to a good many of us crafters. You are an exceptional person and an amazing friend. I have no idea who judged the competition and don't know their criteria for the winners all I know is that your cards are fabulous and I would be lost without you. Now go and get another round and I'll fetch the crisps. Sending hugs, Jayne xxxx

I've read all the comments above honey, and I hope that you are taking note. I'm going to give you a good slapping myself too if I ever get close enough. Wryn looks adorable, I love her skirt and yes, it's their loss. You are a fabulous crafter and a valued friend. Like Jayne, I'd be lost without you, esp the last few months. Snap out of it, have a Gu pud (or two) and get back on the horse again.
Huge huge hugs (and a small smack!)

And just what is wrong with this card please?!
That's a rhetorical question... there's nothing wrong with it!
As if anyone would dare put it in a shredder, it's far too cute for that. Your 3 cards will brighten someone's day for sure and that is a worthwhile thing to have done :-)
Your shading here is fab - gorgeous texture on the hair and love those pleats and the sparkly trim.
Keep 'em coming just like this please!

Big hugs, Kat xx

Oh my Squirrel, you really are beating yourself up for no reason! I know we are our own worst critics, but your cards are an inspiration to so many people who visit your blog that you really shouldn't stress over the opinions of a mere few!
Your colouring of that sweet little Wryn is wonderful and I love the simplicity of the design...sometimes less is definitely more! Hugs, Lisa x

I'm delighted that you've joined us for the Sparkle challenge at Tiddly Inks. It is a lovely card ... the shimmer on the dress is divine, and the way you have coloured her hair is just beautiful. Please start to tell yourself that you are good at what you do ... because that's the honest truth.
