Disaster of Epic Proportions

Morning All!  It's Friday, yippee, and it is only eight and a half hours to my holiday, even better!

I was determined to have a colouring session last night and I already knew what stamp I wanted to use.

This is Wee Goldie by Sylvia Zet from Whimsy Stamps.  She is so cute and I love that little snail blowing heart bubbles.

Anyhoo, I was happily painting away, having spent nearly and hour fiddling around with her hair and then disaster stuck.  There was a big blob of dark green ink, on the edge of the biggest bubble.  Aaaargh.  Green?!  How did that happen?  My hands were clean, my white t-shirt was clean, so where did it come from?  I could feel tears pricking my eyes.  By this point I was seriously upset!  Toad had a look.  "oh dear" he said "can you cover it up?".  With what for Pete's sake, it's in the middle of white space??

But that did make me think.  And then I remembered a set of Hero Arts stamps that I have had forever.  18 tiny sealife stamps.  And that dear friends, is why Goldie is now swimming with a schoal of little green fish!

Ingredients for this card
Stamped Image  Wee Stamps - Goldie, Hero Arts little fish and bubbles
Medium  Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Sakura glitter pen
Papers  Little Sizzlets - Watercolour, First Editions - Spring Drop and Boho Chic
Sentiment  Lili Of The Valley

Hugs, Sxx

OoOOh Squirrel! You are so clever! And when I looked at your creation, I thought that's how the image was .. with the school of fish!!! lol! You my dear did an absolute FABULOUS job!!! You've coloured this darling image soOoOO beautifully I love it!!

PS .. I've many a times at the very end of colouring and touching everything up, and then ... wham! I totally mess up something like .. the grass. hahahah! So into the trash it goes and I have to start from square one again. OoOOO I could feel your frustration as I read about the green from nowhere. But I wish I were clever like you to cover it up brilliantly!!!! You so ROCK!!!

Big Hugs,
Elise

Oh clever you Squirrel - you have covered it up perfectly - no one would ever have know in fact the fish look totally adorable! Alas whenever i have a botch up (which is often lol!) I odn't think of anything quite so clever to cover it with. Your colouring is really fabulous ... but saying you spent an hour on her hair tells its own story of patience and dedication!

Gorgeous card Squirrel, and well done on the amazing camouflage fish job :D They look perfect there! I hate when stuff like that happens, with me it's usually dropping a Promarker or inkpad on something I've just finished - SO frustrating :( but you did a fabulous job with it!

My first thought was "what has she done now!!! Is it really that bad?" And then I see this lovely card. So it can't have been the card! But it was and what a clever way you've rescued it. Thanks of course to Toad's suggestion. Sometimes they do say something useful!!

Have a lovely weekend.

Brilliant cover-up. And I must say I love that Toad actually cares about your art. =) I love the finished card! I'd say you should have kept the averted-disaster a secret, but what fun is a fantastic save when there's no spectators to cheer? LOL

BTW, if you get to my blog in the next couple weeks, there's a sweet Christmas-in-July Cash candy going on... extra bonus for my already-Followers like you, Squirrelly Girl! ;) Scurry on over and join the fun! Mwah! = Beanie

The skill of an artist is measured by how well they can cover up a "blooper" heeheehee!!
So you get 10/10 great job my friend.

How satisfying it is to cover and accident and make it look as thought that's how it was always going to be. Gorgeous card. I hope you are having a lovely holiday :o)

What a clever idea Squirrel! Luckily the green dot didn't end up on Goldie's face, that would be more challenging, but I guess you would sort it out as well ;) Lovely card!

Whoo! What a great save. And you did such a great job with the fish placement that one would never know that the fish weren't part of the original stamp!

Don't you hate it when random things get on your card?!!! Grrr.....!

I used to have the Hero Arts set of sea life.

Love the bubble background paper. I have a small piece of that myself that I am hoarding because it is too cool to use.
