Avoidance Tactics

Evenin' all, how are we tonight?  Tis a little bit chilly around the tip of my tail and there was a definite coating of frost on the fur this morning.  Could this be the long overdue winter finally arriving?  I doubt it, it will probably be back up to 18C tomorrow!  This time last year we were up to our knees in snow.

Now, as my boss will tell you, I have a knack of finding ways to avoid horrible jobs, like filing.  And right now, Christmas is falling into that category.  So, when I found this stamp whilst having a rummage, it did not take much persuading for me to use it to make a card for my dad that is only three months before the due date!

Ingredients for this card:
Stamped Image:  High Hopes
Papers: MME Lime Twist and scrap from box
Medium: Distress Inks
Sentiment: LOTV

Now, I have a bit of a grumble.  And it all came home to roost with this particular pad of MME papers.  I love quality papers that are a decent thickness and have a good finish to them and MME papers fall nicely into that category, along with some other big names on the market, but ....... why do double sided?!  In this pad there are only two sheets of each - so you end up using two designs for one card (the reverse of this alphabet paper is the lush brown polka dot) - it makes my heart weep as it feels so wasteful.  So, here is a small suggestion, reduce the weight of the papers ever so slightly (these are more like a light cardstock anyway) and only print on one side!  Or is that just me?

Anyway, it is grocery shopping for me tonight - my life is one big, frantic, social whirl - so I'm off to try and write a list.  Be back with you on Friday with a DT card for Winter Wonderland.

Hugs Sxx

Lovely card Squirrel, a really fun image. I hate cutting into new pieces of backing paper. I'm afraid I would have only used one sheet and made the mat smaller with more of the card blank showing. Take Care Debs xx

Fantastic card, Squirrel! Great coloruing and what a perfect image! I love your papers too and I do agree with you!!! Or they should put a nice one with an ugly one on the reverse side, so we would not feel so bad:-)! Hugs Delphine xx

What a great card! I am loving this image; perfect for the occasion! I agree with you! I hate to see double sided pads; hate choosing which side I like most. Then when you have two great sides it is even worse! Basic grey and Fancy pants do the one sided and I LOVE IT!

Love it Squirrel! I am totally with you with the double-sided paper thing and then only giving you a couple of the papers in the pack - not good. Kim

Fab card, love the bright papers. I know what you mean but sometimes the advantage of double sided is that I don't like one side but it is difficult when you like both. Hope you'll enter my candy. Marianne x

I love that lettered paper - so perfect for little guys cards!! or thankyou teacher ones!! need some now :)
I'll grumble with you.. why do 2 nice patterns always end up back to back.. and then there's always the ones that I'm not keen on, backed with another I'm not likely to use! can't win :)

Fantastic card Squirrel and I agree wholeheartedly about the MME d/sided stuff, it brings a tear to my eye to have to cover one side up :o)

Fab card hun! I only tend to use double sided papers when making my baby boots n car seats tbh, but that's a task in itself on which side to use so I feel your pain! lol

Hope all is well :)

I know how you feel, sometimes it is very hard to use double sided papers - sometimes you just have to buy two sheets so you can have both. Your card is lovely I really like the DP (sounds good on the other side too, LOL) and your little dragon makes me think of Superman flying through the sky. He is delightful, makes a great image for males.

Fun card, Squirrelly Girl! =) And I think the double-sided papers are a sales gimmick to force you to buy another pad. I have a Christmas pack that I can't bring myself to use because so many of the papers are absolutely gorgeous on both sides. I think they work really well for dimensional projects like lanterns and boxes and special folds where you use the heavier double-sided dp instead of cardstock, but for a basic card, it makes me want to cry! lol

Hope that your fur has defrosted! Sweet card for your Dad, now the tick is going to be knowing where you put it in three months!! lol! I can understand the avoidance, it's amazing what I can find to do to avoid doing something I don't want to do.

Great card Squirrel. Love that image. I know what you mean about double-sided DP. It's ok if you don't like one of the sides but otherwise I agree it's a waste.

I know what you mean about finding ways to avoid things we don't want to do lol!

A super male card Squirrel - love the vibrant colours and of course the gorgeous paper.

I feel exactly the same as you do about double-sided papers, and they are usually more expensive - even though we can only use one side!! It makes sense to have the patterns on one side so we can use them all!

Gorgeous card :o) Such a fun image and love the papers too. It is annoying when there's a design you really like on each side of the paper, all the nicest papers seem to come double sided now.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog hun xxx Lisa x

Your card is lovely! I agree with you as well. Why do they torture us so. It brakes my heart to hide something beautiful but what else can we do.
