For my daddy

I love my daddy to bits, he is my hero.  Next weekend will be his birthday, and I always like to try and make him a card that is really relevant to either our relationship (amazing), or his hobbies and interests.

He has always been a bit of a handyman, although as mum often says "whatever your father makes never falls apart"- his items do tend to be rather heavy duty!

He has his sheds, of course, but he also has a part of the house that has evolved over the years into "the  Cubbyhole", which is where you can often find him hiding, tinkering with something or other.   I have many happy memories of spending hours with him, just pottering, and emerging smelling of wood shavings.  When I saw this stamp I had to have it just for him.

The ingredient for this are:
Lili of The Valley "The Workbench" stamp
and LOTV For Him Circular Sentiments (retired)
and I picked out one of the colours to use as the matting layers, a ProMarker on white card
I used the same colour for the buttons which are Impression Obsession dies
Image painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) used as watercolours

And as Sweet Stamping Challenge have a "Masculine" theme, it would be rude not to enter

Hugs to all
Squirrel xx

  3. Hi, great card for your Dad. I would think he'll love it. Your colouring is perfect and the colours are nice and bright. This range of stamps are just right for our men! I bought the wallpapering one for my Dad when it came out as he was a keen diy-er too but sadly he's not well enough to do it himself anymore although he still gives instructions and advice so it's now one of my jobs!
    have a good day.

  8. What a fab card for him hon...... it's perfect! My dad was very similar to yours by the sounds of it, and we had the same relationship. He also had a cubby/work room! He was ill from when I was in my late teens, so I became the 'holder' of one end of a piece of wood... or the 'runner' to get something he needed! I have some beautiful things in my house now made by him... including a fabulous inlaid chess table which I truly treasure! He passed away in 1980 when I was 26 - I can't believe it's that long since I saw him... and I would have loved to make him a card like this!

  10. A lovely card for your Dad Squirrel. How I wish I could make use of these lovely stamps for a card for my Darling Dad who loved tinkering and pottering in his workshop. I hadn't discovered card making when we unexpectedly lost him 25 years ago xx

  11. Oh! how lovely for your Special Dad. a daughter and her Dad relationship is VERY special too. Beautiful colouring and papers.

My Dad was useless at everything DIY, but good with a paintbrush, he would paint anything within reach, once a wooden toilet seat, which my Mum sat on while it was still wet, before they went out to a special night out. LOL. He was always reminded of it. LOL Miss him even after nearly 40 years.

  12. Aw... what a nice story about your dad. My dad, too, creates things that withstand hurricane force. They don't make 'em like that anymore (both dads and whatever it is they are creating). Great card!

  13. A fab card and lovely colouring of the image hun. Although my dad tried, most of his work resembled a jigsaw, with bits bolted on, and if it could be made out of an old pallet then it would be. No expense spar... erm, spent! :0)
Happy Birthday to Daddy Squirrel for the weekend.
Can you ask him when I should be planting my beans please! :0)
